Mixtape? Muxtape

muxtape

Keeping with my music theme over the past couple posts, here’s a site for people who like to say “mixtape” but with Jello in their mouthes. Muxtape.com let’s users upload twelve songs to create their own mixtapes, which seems like a good idea until you take the users’ music tastes into consideration.

Other music sites like Lastfm get around the questionable music taste of the membership pool by including a search function. This way, everyone can filter through the theme songs from Japanese anime and live performances by the Philharmonic and actually find something listenable. Muxtape is too radical for a search function. I guess they’re trying to recreate the experience of being stuck in the backseat of someone’s car while a mixtape plays. Will the next song be good? Will there be a ten minute Enya song in the middle of the tape?

But it is fun to click on a random name and see what that member decided to mix up, even if you’re forced to stop halfway through when you aren’t feelin’ the music.
