The Bright Lights of America

Political punk band Anti-Flag recently released their newest album titled The Bright Lights of America. Where the songs are continuing to move away from the “Bush-bashing” that they started with the release of “The Terror State” they remain to share their emotions and complaints about how this country is not how it should be.

The sound that comes from this album is nothing new. It is the same sound they have been using since their A-F Records debut album “Mobilize.” The only difference is that there does not seem to be as much creativity in the music as there once was. Where the lyrics are still catchy it just sounds like recycled versions of songs from previous albums.

From a band that claimed to be against establishment and stood for many beliefs including remaining more underground they have started releasing more radio friendly albums and even have music videos which are played on both Fuse and MTV along with having “This is the End (For you my Friend)” included in a number of EA Sports video games it just seems that they are beginning a pull a 180 on what the band is and what they once stood for. Not to mention how they switched from their self-run A-F Records and released their newest album after signing a contract with RCA which is one of the largest and most popular record labels in the nation.
